The correspondence box, often referred to as a writing box was a popular item in the 19th century, particularly in England. The Turnbridge style refers to the marquetry work associated with Tunbridge Wells in Kent, England. Tunbridge ware was renowned for its intricate marquetry and mosaic inlays, often depicting geometric patterns. The inside of the box has compartments for paper and envelopes. Circa 1850, England.
